About
Magdalene Women is a 501 (c) (3) whose mission is to inspire, empower and connect women’s voices through poetry, theater, art, dance, music and ritual.
I chose the name Magdalene Women after one of my personal heroines, Mary Magdalene. Far from a prostitute, Magdalene was actually the title given to a great wise woman or high priestess trained in the feminine arts.
I envision a global circle of such priestesses waking up, standing up, joining hands and singing, dancing, celebrating around the world. Can you imagine it? Who would want to go to war amidst such ecstatic beauty?
What’s the big deal about the Goddess?
The awakening of the Goddess is not just of benefit to women, but of necessity to the survival of humanity. Feminine strength is different than that of men . Our strength lies in our ability to give birth to and nurture life, from which stems the knowledge of the interdependent connection of all of life.
To women everybody is someone’s son or daughter, sister, brother, mother,
father, grandmother, grandfather. At our core women know we are all family. Because of this we are also stronger than men in our capacity for compassion, in our ability to bear and share in each other’s suffering. Women love. Women are love. We see our pets, the flowers and plants in our back yard as our children.
We know just as we care for our children we are fed by an even greater mother.
