Re-Membering the Goddess

Is a two day ritual workshop held in a sacred boulder garden in the mountains of Santa Barbara, California. Based on the mythology of the Descent and Ascension of Innana, the first day we make our descent from Heaven to the Underworld, performing rituals, which the group co-creates, corresponding to each of the charkas (energy centers of the body). In the story of Innana she must give up power objects at each of the gates as she descends to from Heaven to the Underworld with the purpose of knowing herself.

Similarly, we give up our remembrance as Goddess/ Queen of Heaven through the crown chakra ritual. We give up our intuition through the third eye/psychic chakra ritual. We give up our authentic voice through the throat chakra ritual. Ultimately giving up our lives, experiencing our death through the root chakra ritual. That evening we journey into the Underworld Dreamtime together, gathering the pearls of grace necessary to make our Ascension.

On the second day we experience our ressurection from the Underworld to Earth, returning as Goddess in human form, beginning with awakening a new wellspring of life force energy from the Dark Mother through the root chakra ritual all the way to realizing our majesty, our divinity through the crown chakra ritual.

In the setting of dream like rock formations, which inspire the imagination, appearing as thrones, wombs, temples, spirit canoes, skulls and lizard mouths, we remember the power of ritual and our knowledge of creating and sharing ritual with each other. Just as we did as little girls making magic mud pies, we re-member the Goddess through our play, having fun even when that play is filled with deep emotional process.
